Studies in the Psalms - Psalm 117

Though Psalm 117 is the shortest psalm in the Bible, it is packed with needed truth.

Psalm 117:1
Praise the LORD, all nations; Laud Him, all peoples!

Every human on the planet should praise God. He gives us every breath we take and is the giver of all good things.

Psalm 117:2
For His lovingkindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD is everlasting. Praise the LORD!

I believe the primary reason the world fails to offer God the praise and worship He deserves, is their own lack of understand of not only who He is, but also who we are. We are sinners. Even our good deeds are as “filthy rags.” And God’s holiness is beyond anything we could ever imagine. Yet, the Holy God of the universe wants us to be in relationship with Him. And to breech the wall of separation that sin brings to a Holy God, we have the truth of John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

That is how great His lovingkindness is toward us.

Praise the Lord. Laud Him. Extol Him. The best way to share the Gospel is by telling people how great God is. We must live our lives in a way that shows the world that we truly are blessed through our communion with Him. They must see that what we say, we believe, and then live it out. Even in tragedy, we can praise God, for we know that He is in control. We know that, even when nothing makes sense, He is behind it all working it out for good.

He is worthy. Praise the Lord!
