THE PSALMS – A JOURNEY IN WORSHIP AND FAITH - December 9, 2014 - Day 117 - Psalm 117

If someone asked us “What is the center of your life?” what would your answer be? Some might say their children, their spouse, or their family in general. Others may say their career. Maybe it’s a hobby or it’s your studies in school. To the Christian it should be Jesus Christ. Everything else should emanate from our relationship with Him. Psalm 117 is the shortest of all the psalms and it is the shortest chapter in the Bible, but more importantly it is said to be the center of the Bible. God does nothing without a purpose and in Psalm 117 through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit He has told us where our center should be. A simple psalm with a simple message; Praise is to be the center of all we do. Begin all things with praise.

First the call to praise.

Psalm 117:1
Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples!

Then the reason why we can make praise of our God the centerpiece of our lives.

Psalm 117:2
For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!

The word used for faithfulness is truth. We can praise God no matter what happens or where we are for we can trust in Him. He is always faithful and He is always true.

So let us stop now and praise Him. Let us put our praise and our worship ahead of all things for He is worthy of our adoration.

Praise the Lord!
