We live in a diverse and divided
world. Americans have yet to break completely free from the segregation of its
people that predates the Civil War and this very day, we are still reaping the
sad effects of that division amongst our people. Psalm 87 reminds us that one
day, when Christ returns, heaven will unite us all, as God brings His plan to
fruition.
Psalm
87:1-7
On the holy mount stands the
city he founded; the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the
dwelling places of Jacob. Glorious things of you are spoken, O city of
God. Selah Among those who know me I mention Rahab and Babylon; behold,
Philistia and Tyre, with Cush— “This one was born there,” they say. And
of Zion it shall be said, “This one and that one were born in her”; for the
Most High himself will establish her. The LORD records as he registers
the peoples, “This one was born there.” Selah Singers and dancers alike
say, “All my springs are in you.”
Psalm 87 is a short psalm. It
speaks of God’s love for the city, Jerusalem, a city rich in the history of
Israel and of God. But the most interesting thing about this psalm, is that it
speaks not only of the Jews being born into God’s family, it also speaks of
their enemies being born in Him. In Christ, all peoples and nations can and
will be part of God’s family.
Revelation
5:9-10
And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”

Salvation is of the Jews, but
not only for the Jews. The good news for today is that despite the separation we
see in the world today, one day we shall live in a place where we all will
unite, to bring God His due glory. But you must be born again. You must be born
into Christ.
Revelation
5:13
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

Take hope in the future when
Jesus returns. But to be a part of this great eternity, you must put your faith
in Jesus. I leave you with a great reminder of the hope we can have.
Revelation
21:1-4
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Come soon Lord Jesus. Come
soon.
